The Easter Egg Farm

The Easter Egg Farm BOOK & TAPE

The Easter Egg Farm by Mary Jane Auch is about  Pauline a hen who lived in Mrs.Pennywort's hen house. The problem was Pauline couldn't lay a white egg. It seemed what ever she looked at when she laid an egg that is what it looked like. Find out what happens next in The Easter Egg Farm.

I liked this book because I think it's cool how Pauline makes different eggs every time she lays one. It's also a mystery about what she does. It is a funny book and great for Easter.

Here's a cool craft to go along with the story:

Washcloth Bunny

Materials:
white washcloth
glue
google eyes
pompoms (one large and one small)
rubber band
ribbon

Get a white washcloth, turn it with the corner pointed towards you.

Roll the washcloth tightly to the other corner.

When done, bend in half.

Then bend in half again.

Put a rubber band around the middle.

Lift the ends to look like bunny ears.

Tie a ribbon around the rubber band and decorate.

Here's a good snack to go with the story:

My Mom's Easter M&M Pancakes

Ingredients
2 c. flour
4 tbsp sugar
4 tsps baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 tsps. vanilla
2 eggs, beaten
2 c. milk
2 tbsps. oil
M&M candies

1. In a large bowl mix dry ingredients.  Make a well in the center and pour in remaining ingredients (except M&M candies).  Mix until smooth.

 2. Pour batter onto a hot griddle or pan.  Add M&M candies.  Cook until batter looks dry around the edges and bubbles form throughout.  Then flip.  Cook until browned.

I hope you enjoy!!

The Paper Dragon

Mi Fei was a painter who paints scrolls of the past. One day a dragon Suijen awakened from its one hundred years of sleep. He was destroying the town. Everyone wanted Mi Fei to defeat Suijen. So he went up Lung Mountain to find Suijen. When he got there, there was Suijen. He wouldn't sleep unless he did three tasks will he get them done?

I think this book was good because it keeps your attention long and its very exciting! It feels like you are in the book and like its happening to you.

To go with this book here's a great egg roll recipe. I found it here.

Eggrolls I made using this recipe.

Best Egg Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 quart peanut oil for frying
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 2 ounces shredded carrots
  • 8 (7 inch square) egg roll wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds (optional)

Directions

  1. Season pork with ginger and garlic powder and mix thoroughly. Heat mixture in a medium skillet, stirring, until pork is cooked through and no longer pink. Set aside.
  2. In another large skillet heat oil to about 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) or medium high heat. While oil is heating, combine flour and water in a bowl until they form a paste. In a separate bowl combine the cabbage, carrots and reserved pork mixture. Mix all together.
  3. Lay out one egg roll skin with a corner pointed toward you. Place about a 1/4 to 1/3 cup of the cabbage, carrot and pork mixture on egg roll paper and fold corner up over the mixture. Fold left and right corners toward the center and continue to roll. Brush a bit of the flour paste on the final corner to help seal the egg roll.
  4. Place egg rolls into heated oil and fry, turning occasionally, until golden brown. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels or rack. Put on serving plate and top with sesame seeds if desired.
